Hello guys and girls,

 

First of all, I must apologise - I'm an MG Rover owner helping out a friend, so won't be able to give anything back just yet (I know nothing of German cars, apart from that my ZT-T has a BMW engine!). 

 

My friend has a Skoda Octavia II, 2005 Classic (5 speed 'box, 105BHP) and has just had rather epic gearbox failure. 

My first question is, which gearbox does it have? I can see several different codes, and just need to know which I need so I can grab a replacement for her from eBay etc (or if anyone has one, we have cash waiting). 

 

Secondly, at idle the engine looks like it's trying to escape from the engine bay - it's violently shuddering, and smokes heavily on acceleration. Am I correct in assuming this is probably injector related?

 

The car is on around 190,000 miles.
