Are these signs of a failing / sticking starter motor, or possibly something else???

 

Turning engine over the other day, - Grrrrrrrrrr, like a bodged gear change. (Is it possible I had not turned the key fully?).

 

Then today, warm start, and nothing (first time) aside of symptoms of a flat battery.

 

On both occasions the car started normally at the second attempt. (I use a solar charger and the car has had a few good runs so do not think it is battery charge related). I will check connections though.

This has happened to me for the last 3 days. Always in the morning after being sat overnight. Everything 'looks' OK under the bonnet afaik so I would be interested to hear any thoughts as well.

Check all the connections on the starter. Also a hard tap with a hammer can help if it's starting to fail
