Repair or go for new

Featured Replies

Well my battle worn Nokia 6600 is slowly on it's way out. The screen has nearly faded totally (so to anyone that has sent me a text I haven't been able to read it!)

Now should I have it fixed or just buy a cheap replacement? If so anyone know where a good place to get one from. I would normal have had a replacement but I shot myself in the foot I guess and didn't upgrade to a new phone. Instead I kept the old one and had my line rental reduced by alot ;)

Repair will probably be pricey, plus you'll be without a phone while it's repaired. If you want a SIM-free phone then you could take a look at Expansys - pretty reasonable on price, and excellent product range and service.

Rob.

Screens for Nokias are easy enough to buy and change , and you'll probably find that it's actually a bad connection to the back of the screen. I've fixed a few by stripping them down and wedging it firmly in place when you reassemble it.

You need a T6 torx screwdriver to open them up usually

I think you might be right Dr Zee, Just opened her up and the connection is very bad indeed, though I'm not sure if I'm upto the job lol. Maybe I could replace it and then try to fix it. If it works I could sell it I guess or have it as a spare. If it does then it's no real loss

I will give that website a go to!

Cheers
