Fitting an iPod nano to a Fabia '05

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I was wondering what the best and cheapest way to wire up an iPod nano to my Symphony headunit would be. I seen the new iTrip nano, but I would want better quality audio. I have also seen the Dension ICE Link, but that seems a little bit expensive. Is there any other options?

Many Thanks,

Lee

Just a thought.... pop down to ur dealer and have ur CD player swapped with a cassette one from perhaps a used classic fabia, sure they wuddnt turn u down as they can spec the car higher... then u can use one of those cassettes with a lead to headphone.

Oviously this keeps the standard look in the car, but of course you lose CD player which is a minus when it comes to selling the car.

But as i said... just a thought.

avoid the c.h.a.vPOD, in the long term they can cost.

The desnsion may look expensive, but you get what you pay for.

I have a dmp3a unit with a 40gb hdd, it can be removed fron the car & plugged into a stereo in the house. (You can put whatever size HDD you like up to 137GB).

You pays your money .:)

There is a wiring diagram around somewhere for using the CD changer plug to 'fake' an AUX-in signal. This would let you plug a headphone jack into the HU and would be great for the Nano, you could even mount the dock somewhere and connect up power if you wanted to do the electronics.

My iPod's been one of the most useful things I've had for the past 3/4 years. I really want to hook it up to my car sometime, but as I have the changer and don't want to loose it, I'm still working on how to actually do it.

Also look into the connects2 ipod/soy walkman to factory hu.

Mort, do you know where that diagram is. Might have a go as I already have the cd changer ISO cable.

Can't find it now. I know one that you can wire up to a PIC controller and use software on the chip to control the iPod etc. from the HU. Which I can find. But that's a bit of overkill I think.

I never saved the simpler one anywhere as I knew it needed the CD changer pins, which I don't have spare. Sorry. I'll keep an eye out.

Forgot to mention in mine... i've got the Dension connecting mine... u pays ur monies...

The iPod is the 21st Century equivalent to The Emperor's New Clothes - they lock you in to the Apple way of handling music and DRM.

There's nothing good about the c.h.a.v.POD at all.
