Wire through bulkhead on Facelift

Featured Replies

I have just fitted a TPMS switch to my FL Octy but I cannot find a way of getting the thin signal wire from the cabin to the engine bay. I have removed the glovebox and all of the wires appear to dissappear towards the centre of the car and into, what appears to be, a box that is half in the car and half under the scuttle but I cannot get access to it.

I have searched the Forum but cannot find an answer to my dilemma. Somebody must have had the same problem before and I would be grateful for any suggestions to solve my problem.

There's a grommet under the battery that is designed to have more wires go through it as it has extra nipples on the grommet obviously designed for this purpose. It's really not that hard to get at if you remove the battery and poke straightened coat hanger into one of the spare nipples on the engine side.  Then if you remove the glove box you should be able to see the coat hanger poking through and if tape the wire to the hanger and then pull it through on the engine side.

Thanks for that. I did remove the battery but did not see the grommet that you mention. It must be next to the ABS controller. I will have a look in the morning if it is not raining.

I have just had another look and I can confirm that my 2012 2.0CR FL Octavia Estate does not have a grommet through the bulkhead under the battery as you suggested. In fact I cannot see any grommets in the bulkhead near the ABS controller which sits to the rear and just below the battery next to the bulkhead.

I am now thinking of routing the cable down by the gear lever and into the engine bay following the same route as the gear linkages if that is possible.

Is there an existing loom entering there at all? If so there must be a grommet and I mention this as mine was pretty hard to see from the engine side. I found it more easily with a torch looking up behind the pollen filter (admittedly albeit on a pre FL) and once I poke the wire through I could see it in the engine bay...

Mines a pre FL but can't see it being much different, the grommet is on firewall below the battery, if you follow the wires from battery you should be see it or feel it, as I did it last year so trying recall from memory so it might not be easy to see.

See last bit of this clip for the position of the grommet

Thanks for all your help but the bulkhead on my facelift appears to be very different to the pe-facelift in the video.

The wiring looms on mine all appear to enter the engine bay from a box in the centre of the car below the scuttle panel.
