in serious need of advice

Featured Replies

I have changed over the coil harness (propert fiddly) and I've put in the pins to the ecu and I've then gone to start it and it won't go. I'm getting p0201/2/3/4 circuit ope across all cylinders. The car was ok before apart from misfire on cylinder 1. I've double checked the wiring the soldering etc all seem ok the only one minor thing is the socket that locates by the battery box (ignition amplifier) inside where the pins are in pink is a locking type slide on the pink thing my socket won't go together when that's locked/closed but it will when it's open I think I bent a pin large brown wire..! Before I decided to solder. Could that be a facto that it won't lock in this causing it not to connect? Seems a long shot but I'm irked and confused..

Any advice would be grateful

With the error codes saying circuit open could that indicate a bad earth? The brown wire in that plug I mentioned earlier could be a likely candidate as all I've done is replace wire for wire.

Just to throw a completely leftfield though to this process - but ALL your coilpacks are alright, are they?

By that I mean - your new wiring harness might actually be fine after all, but your problem is dodgy coilpacks. After all, we all know how rubbish these units are on these cars. I've had so many die on me in my ownership, that I now carry a couple of spares in the boot!

Just a thought anyway.

Worth a ask, they are the mk2 red ones I've got in they were ok before I fiddled but might have gone? I'm still at a loss redone my wiring 3 times. I have noticed a high pitched noise coming from injector one wiring loom when the ignition is on.

I've contacted vwgroups from Welwyn Garden City to see if they can come out and take a look at my car as I'm at a loss and this maybe one that's too much for my knowledge. I'm in the doghouse with the breadknife so hopefully they can get my car running again..!!
