can ECU map be erased

Featured Replies

Think my map has erased since swapping it over to my newer car. Its always seemed slower but now I have fitted boost gauge it only bost 10-11psi rather than the 19-21 it used to on other Vrs. Has been checked for boost leaks and nothing found.

Unlikely it's erased as to rewrite it would need flashing as I understand.

I would have said limp mode if anything or something wrong elsewhere.

Was plugged into the proper vag computer at a vag specialist tuning and general garage and NO fault codes were shown... im wondering if the guy I sent it to get it to work on my car erased it when or something... bit annoying as i cant remember where or who it was sent to

No codes doesn't mean somethings not wrong. Sound like your right I'm pretty sure it would need reflashing to defeat the immobiliser and in the process he's wiped the map. I may be wrong though on the immo defeat. No good going back there unless he saved a copy of your file other than that it's long gone.

Just found old messages to the guy so hopefully we can still have faith in people and he will reply at least.... he did tell me he keeps copies of all the Maps he does so if anything he might have some Map for me lol

The map file and the immo chips are different and read differently. He shouldnt of needed to reflash the map to immo defeat.

I thought that might be the case. Still be worth getting in touch with the guy just to double check he hasn't done anything daft.
