Oil over the engine cover

Featured Replies

Hey,

Feel a bit bad, someone vanadlised the vrs last night, so i shot off to the local plod. I started the car, while i removed what i could of the graffiti but didnt let the car warm up, i gave it a rough time to the station, hopefully i haven't hurt it, as im quite gentle as the car is nearly new. Still under 2k miles done. Checked the oil over this evening and noticed that oil was all over the engine cover, especially around the dip stick cut out. I took the dip stick out and noticed oil all around the top. Have i done damage to the car and burst something, or has some oil just leaked out? Anyone else oil around the engine cover?

Cheers

Rich

I get greasy looking patches on the cover too - not that I'm worried about it!

Anyone care to enlighten us?

what do you mean by all over? Is there alot?

I often have some around the filling cap which is just spillage. As for the dip stick mine is black around the top of the shaft, maybe you didn't push it down fully after the last time you check the oil
