Amundsen + Updating Maps

Featured Replies

I've also asked this question in the Fabia Mk2 Forum as the unit is standard fit in my Fabia Monte Carlo Tech.

Has anyone looked at or actually updated the maps on their Amundsen+ Navigation Units?

I've asked the dealer about the latest maps (V7 I believe) and they are £176 + VAT apparently!

However I've found a seller in Germany advertising V6 maps on a pucker VW Navigation SD Card AZ V 6 2014 / 2015 brand new, boxed and sealed foil! Volkswagen Genuine Accessories for VW RNS 315,
Seat Media System 2.1 + 2.2 & Skoda RNS Amundsen +

Specifications

PR No .: AZ
EA Part Number: 3AA 919 866
OZ Part Number: 3AA 051 866 R

The EA Part Number: 3AA 919 866 matches the Navigation Part Number on my unit 3AA919866.

It's 2 versions newer than my currents maps so is it worth a punt for £70 inc. p&p.

Has anyone else done this and are there any draw backs by using a VW part in a Skoda??

this is probably a daft question, but how does the update work in an amundsen+ (like is in my Octy Blackline) ?

do you put the SD card in the same place where usually you would put a music card, seeing as there is only one slot (I know there were some ICE units which had 2 slots, 1 for music and 1 for Nav)

Pretty sure the maps are completely compatible between the Skoda, Seat and VW headunits - they certainly are for the RNS310 and RNS510.

The SD card goes into the slot and then it should copy the maps from the SD card to the headunits internal storage. Once this is complete it will also wipe/destroy the card so it can only be used to update a single headunit.

The answer is yes, if you look in the owners manual for the Amundsen + it talks you through the upgrade process, you can also run the maps from the SD Card without loading them onto the unit.

Andrew27473, you can only use this method of updating your maps if you have the version of the Amundsen that was fitted and gave you 3-years worth of updates with the deal and that was mainly Octavia Mk3's.

For anything else you have to purchase maps on an SD card and load them yourself, it doesn't help that there are numerous versions of Amundsen and Amundsen+ devices out there some with 2 SD card slots some with 1 SD card slots, some with Bluetooth some without and some with DAB and some without.

All I can tell you is that for my particular version of the Amundsen+ the latest Map version is V7 for which Skoda have quoted a price of £176.+ VAT and they tell me that the Part Nmber is 3T0051255L. My vehicle currently has V4 maps so I am going to take a punt with a seller who is doing the V6 maps for half that price as at the end of the day even with V7 maps I could still find myself driving across fields when I'm on the new A11 Bypass in Suffolk/Norfolk :D
