After what seems like a life-time of Fords, i,ve finally taken the plunge, now running a 2011 Octavia Elegance estate. Very impressed so far. However, like many, im not overly happy carrying just a can of tyre sealant. Looking for a real spare, not worried if its steel, spacesaver or what, but just exactly what do i buy, part no's. diameter etc?. (running 205/55/16).

Also, got the central locking "rocker" switch by the handbrake. It locks perfectly and illuminates, but doesn,t unlock, or light up when rocked the opposite way. Am i doing something wrong? (seems to be lots of locking functions) or is it a fault and how do i fix it? Thanks in advance,

Good choice of car !

The lock switch should be just that. Press once and it's locked, press again and it's unlocked. Lights up when locked. Could be faulty. You can get a spare and all the stuff that goes with it from auction sites.

thanks,  thats a poor connection solved then! i just went out to see how easy it is to remove the switch and after a poke its working! :D

205/55/16 is a standard size for Octavias and is what many with larger wheels get as a spare so shouldn't be too difficult to get a hold of. More difficult will be the foam insert with all of the tyre changing tools.

I too have the sealant kit etc so I became interested when I was in my local Skoda dealer and they were promoting a full replacement wheel kit including the steel wheel, tools, foam plastic carrier and the wheel hold down screw with the big handle. I didn't look any further to check if it included a tyre after my eye was drawn to the price  - about £150!

Your profile doesn't give your location but this is quite a good price, the full kit for £99, collection only though. The Octavia uses the same spare as the Superb.

If you are prepared to shop around and wait for the right deal then the individual components can be had cheap online.

thanks for the replies. i  hadnt taken into account the tools and liner as well, i want to try and stay under a £100 delivered if i can. i think i"ll try to get the wheel and bits separately, it may be the cheaper way to go. for anyone down poole way, this would seem to be a bargain!
