TDI Sport

Anyone got one of these? If yes, are they a decent buy, whats the build quality like and how do they perform, or will it be worth waiting for the VRS version with 30+bhp?

Pretty pointless IMO.

The 2.0 TDI elegance has more toys , drives just as nicely and costs the same.

Ok , so it doesn't have the sporty bumpers but I'd rather have the extra kit

Asked if anyone owned one, not if they where a decent concept. Spec looks more than adequate, plus I'd rather have the exterior kit over the interior kit any day (personal preferance, I appreciate why people like all the extras of the Elegance)

Read an article recently which compared the 140BHP 2.0TDi VW Jetta against the 170 BHP version. The conclusion was that the 140 was the one to go for. The 170 BHP version was uncomfotably peaky and didn't feel any quicker that the 140. Imagine the same will apply in the Octy. Sport is the one to go for if you like your bodykit etc and it's plenty quick too! Suspension a bit hard for my liking but I see you have a Furby vRS so you should be happy enough. Don't expect the handling of the Furby but 0-60 is similar.

Haven't got it yet but I have one on order. Hope to get it mid December. Like you I prefer the body kit to the additional toys (although I did add curtain airbags, dual zone climate control, parking sensors and multifunction steering wheel). Build quality is great - the same as any other VW group car - although strangely I believe the interior quality is better than the latest golf!!

The contributors to the 'rattles & creaks' thread may not agree with you there but mine seems pretty solid. Sports suspension IMO would just aggrevate the problem. Autocar magazine ran an Octy Elegance for a year and 17k miles. They loved it and reckon it's more bombproof than any other car in the VAG group.

Are there any plans for a 4x4 hatch? Was behind a 55-plate Golf TDI 4Motion last night and it struck me as the ideal way of putting down the TDI's torque on the road. If there was a Octavia Elegance/L&K 2.0TDI 4x4 that would be my ideal next car I think :D A DSG option would be even better!

I have just read the latest 'CAR' magazine as it has an interesting comparison on the 4 VAG cars. Audi, VW, SEAT and Skoda. The OCTY won, Yeah! I had a look at the Golf and apart from the Blue dials, which I love; the interior is not quite as well made as the Octy.

I like the blue dials too but aprt from that the similarly priced golf is sparse in comparison with an Octy. I think the golf maybe looks a bit sharper externally from the front but the Octy cabin is a much nicer place to be and looks the part too. I think the golf might be slightly more solid from experience but the golf is much more basic so there's not much to rattle anyway. I think the drivers door plastic trim where the window controls are mounted is very plasticy but apart from that, the quality of most of the materials in the Octy put the golf to shame.
