Xenons and headlight washers

Featured Replies

Hi folks - simple question for you. If an Octavia Mk2 is fitted with Xenons, will it always be fitted with headlight washers?

My assumption is 'yes' as this is/was the law but there are some listed on Auto Trader which advertise Xenons but don't have the little washer areas present in the front bumper.

Factory fit xenons always had washers. If it says xenons but doesn't have the washers then they've probably fitted a HID kit.

The elegance came with washers as standard but with halogen lights. Early L&K models also had washers but no xenons then later came with both.

I believe your right something to do with the spread pattern of the xenons.

Yes....if the car has factory Xenons. However there are a few Xenon retrofits around without washers. Of course it could be an error in the advert.....very common.

Thanks - just what I needed :)

It's not the pattern but the brightens (in lumens). Anything over a certain level be it halogen, xenon or LED etc has to have washers.

A lot of cars now with LED headlights don't need them as the brightness isn't massive just that the light pattern is better and it throws what light they do have in the right places.

Yes. A lot of people will see the projector lenses and assume it has xenons.

2 of the cars were from the same dealer, so as you say sounds like just a mistake.
