couple of questions regarding exhaust / egr stuff

Featured Replies

Hi guys, new to the forum so sorry if this is in the wrong section! Been looking at modifying my mk1 vrs, plans at the moment are an exhaust system followed by a remap and possibly rear arb. My engine management light is on atm, its my egr valve according to my diagnostic reader so i thought i may as well do an egr delete while im at it. My car is 06 so I am assuming this means its BLT engine? Whats the differences regarding EGR valves/deletes with the two engine types?

On another note, rather than spend money on a turbo-back system (miltek or similar), I really just want the cat gone for now. Would the miltek (or similar) downpipe/decat pipe still fit onto the oem cat-back system? Would like a bit of noise but for now just want the cat gone before I get it mapped.

Thanks in advance!

you can EGR 2 ways with the BLT system

the cheapest is to buy 2 EGR blanking plates and remove the EGR & EGR cooler pipework from behind the inlet

cost for this is about £4 for the EGR blanks and couple of jubilee clips to join the 2 EGR cooler pipework together

this way you retain the original inlet body and the ASV

2nd option is buy a EGR delete for a ASZ engine and do the whole thing, you will need to modify the top pipework to fit a silicone hose rather than the crappy clip connector

you will also have to get someone to map out the fault code for removing the ASV

Thanks, so do you have to have the fault light mapped out either way you do it? I'm getting a custom map anyway so this shouldn't be an issue.

Any idea on the exhaust question?

Cheers

EGR and ASV can both be mapped out yes

sorry the exhaust i would just decat your standard downpipe as the milltek is not much better than stock as it still has the 2" neck off the turbo then goes into 2.5"
