advice re new car registered address...

Featured Replies

Hi, hopefully someone can help.

I bought a new octavia via a broker in may and while chasing the v5 Ive just found out that although the new car is registered in my name it is registered at the brokers address.  Ive been informed that the car will be transferred to my address after 90 days and assured that my name is the first on the log book.

As I have insured the car at my home address can anyone inform me where I stand, is my insurance potentially invalid because the address on the insurance doesn't marry up with the v5?

Do I need to inform the insurer or should i not worry?

Thanks ;)

As long as you've told the insurer where it IS kept, it doesn't matter if that differs to the logbook.

Yes call your Insurance Broker & tell them,

and if there is going to be any charge for them to change insurance details. then call and also put in writing to the Car Broker that they will

be paying this cost.

I thought this too, sounds like some sort of workaround on the pre registered with the dealer for 90 days thing, means I am the first keeper but they hold onto the logbook for 90 days, still seems iffy to me but its in my name so meh, just means if that bank job goes ahead the cops wont call here first i assume.

Or send you NIPS asking you to declare who was driving,  or parking tickets.

But then the chance of your number cloned is next to none,  is it not.....

never happened..... much!

Just tell the Broker that had the car supplied to get the V5 in your name and at your address now unless they informed you before

they were getting a discount by it being a Demonstrator or such.
