Where do you store your detailing products?

Featured Replies

Have just ordered a new Octavia vRS to replace my company car so thought I should start to collect some goodies. I've got a few things so far from dabbling in the past but haven't really got anywhere to put them.

Don't know if anyone has seen the thread on detailing world with the Fat Max workstation but quite like that idea but at the same time wondered what other people do?

Photos most welcome!

Ive seen these, but use the Makita Tool Carry Bags when travelling to do Detailing jobs

My Machine Polishers have their own bags, with room for Polish and Pads etc..

Hi Andy - Plenty of options available on the storage front....

What space have you got to work with? Do you want to be mobile or not?

For example - some shelving in the garage keeps my main detailing collection organised.

Plastic shelves can be had cheaply from Aldi or Lidl; else Costco do some sturdier options.

Some plastic storage boxes for microfibers, pads/applicators and towels to avoid dust etc.

Waxes and sealants I keep in a more controlled temperature in the house, rather than garage.

If you have any hardware to protect or store (DA or Rotary polisher) - then Maplin do a decent range....such as:-

or

I've used/purchased these in the past (when on sale BTW).... to make up a nice kit/case:-

My wife thinks I have too much stuff. I'll just show her this next time she says anything...

Absolutely Karl - glad I didn't take a picture of all the shelves in my old garage!  :peek:   ;)

I have reduced this collection since moving house though - don't worry.

The only problem is that SWMBO has started buying me more detailing stuff recently - as she is getting into detailing too  :giggle:

Good God Ste, wow.  My beginners collection of lotions, potions and pads takes up half of an old kitchen wall unit in the garage..... And I suspect I have enough of most stuff to last several years.  You must get through a lot more product though.

OCD. Lol

Just to clean two cars!!

I've a big unit on the wall in the garage - about 1.2m wide, 1m high, 2 shelves. Most of it is detailing stuff. Although since coming out of DW and sticking to one brand the collection has reduced some what.

Thats what Im doing ....I see no point in this collecting lark

However, I have a shelf unit from Costco, and a glass cabinet + two other shelves for waxes and sealants...

I like to keep a selection for my paying clients (Not in Briskoda anymore of course)

"Each to their own"..a common expression in here

Im slimming down to BH and PowerMaxed..Everything I need there for my personal use and friends' cars

Yeah - in my old garage i had a couple of old kitchen units installed on the back wall.

This worked really well for what i had at the time

I don't have the half of this level of kit since i moved house Neil.

Sold plenty of it at the start of the year.....to make the house move easier;

gave a load of stuff away as well, to mates who used particular products i had.

I met a great guy when on holiday last year in Portugal, He's an OCD detailing nut as well.....

but fits most of his detailing kit into one of the fatmax style trolleys as mentioned in the OP.

So just goes to show - great results are still easily achieve with the basic and fundamental selection of products.

Just so happens my OCD nature and  main hobby... is to try out new products & suppliers, test+trial new potions, etc.

Shaun Wistow strikes again!! Lol

Know Shaun well As you know)...I think it was my fault that he turned OTT..though that was certainly NOT my intention

He was using a sponge in those days and had just been given a Civic company car

Like you he was oblivious to Detailing products and techniques

I didnt know you met him in Portugal?

Was that planned?

How long has he been selling detailing bags/boxes?

Thanks for taking the time to post pictures and find links. I think I'll probably put it all on a shelving unit I have already but maybe buy a few matching bottles. Have a single garage and dont have to be mobile

Good stuff - let us know what you purchase/decide on.

Any links to products may be useful for the guys on here.

I have 2 of these tubs from dry cow tubes:

And a box for unopened stuff and the bag for my DA, and another box for DA pads and a couple of polishes. It gets kept in my bedroom so my dad doesn't take bits. He doesn't believe in detailing and bought some of that cheep QD from a market stall that claimed it was "polish". Which is fine, do what you want, but if I catch you applying it with my megs drying towel again  :swear:  :wall:

5 rolling toolboxes, 3 or 4 carrybags/cases. :)

I use this to wheel the products around the car and to store some items when put back in the Shed.

I like that but it would run away on my sloping Drive..LOL

Same setup that Kevin and Clive have at the Autobrite detailing booth.... pic below:-

My detached garage has been as low as minus 13C and as high as 41C....so I don't keep any "products" out there. I believe that extremes of temperature aren't beneficial to most products, be they solid, water-based or solvent-based. Fortunately, I have storage space indoors!

Ste said he had posted this, so i thought i would sign up, plus i am looking at a Fabia for the mrs as a runaround. The box also splits into 3 individual units making it easy to put in the boot of a car etc

Hello Shaun

Long time no see

Where do I get one of these from?

Direct from you?

Hows the Astra?

Ey up Chris, Astra is great thanks.

I got mine from a mate who was selling it on Detailing World. B&Q keep having them in flash sales, i'd recommend signing up for the news letter

Cheers...I'll keep my eye open

So what Mk Fabia are you after?

Engine?

Trim?

Price range?
