Radio problem

Featured Replies

I have a Skoda Octavia 2005 2.0 TDi which is a wonderful car however the radio keeps switching on even when the car is not in use.  For example I can switch the radio off when I stop and get out of the car lock it and then at some point (no timings as they are not always the same) the radio will come on by itself.

Can anyone help as this is going to run my battery down at some point.  I have had to remove the fuse for the time being.

Many thanks

first thing i'd do is take the headunit out and see if there is any evidence of issues behind there.

Removal is easy.

Open the ash tray 1/2 and using the gap you can remove the facia which covers the heating controlls and headunit. It up pops off

Remove the 4 plastic covers in the corners of the headunit. This reveals the screws holding it in place

Undo all 4 screws and it just pulls out

Remove the cabling once you can reach it and have a look for any problems

It sounds like a possible short causing it to still be live. The only issue is that with the car being canbus is uses data to tell it to turn on, not a switched live like in older cars

Just before following Ryan's instructions (and by no means any offense to Ryan :) ).......

What model of stereo is it?
