Having a remap tomorrow on my 59 skoda vrs.midland remapping in Wolverhampton  are doing it, has anyone used this place? 

I'm hoping it will help with flat spots and improve mpg.

Had map done yesterday and must say has not blew me away but ok.When I had saab Ttid mapped the difference was very noticeable, guy told me diesel maps are more noticeable.

He also said to  keep an eye on engine light as this may flicker and maybe a pinking noise caused by the map and he said I will need to change coil packs and this will solve the problem(if it occurs).

Are these easy to change as I am not mechanically minded at all.

The difference should be night and day! I had a 60 plate TSi vRS and couldn't believe the difference.

It all comes down to your expectations though, and that I can't measure, but it doesn't sound right.

The only thing that is correct though, is that a remap can highlight weaknesses in the coilpacks and / or spark plugs. My spark plugs needed changing straight after as the engine had massive flat spots with the remap. That cured it though
