Flat paint.

Featured Replies

I've bought some touch up paint for some scratches on the front skirt.  Now I realise the paint is totally flat--non-gloss.

Should I get some clear coat , or lacquer or whatever---please advise me,   or will car wax and polish put a sheen on it?

As you can tell I am a total ignoramus on the subject.  Advice gratefully received.

I'm no expert either, and haven't had to do any touch-ups for years....but have always followed the colour with clear coat. Just get the cheapest from Halfords or other store.

If your touch ups have gone a little dull, try giving them a going over with something like Autoglym super resin polish. It's probably the top exposed layer oxidising.then put a tiny amount od clearcoat, like oxonboxn says. Should be fine.

Personally I would not polish first...

I believe the touch up paint is flat by nature until you add the clearcoat...

I would do this and then leave a few days and then give it a light polish
