K wire fault from new hu, wire change

Featured Replies

hi ppl,

ive posted on the fabia forum about my power steering fault and from that i found out i have a k wire fault so the dealers wouldnt do much to sort my steering problem :(

im like 90% sure the fault has been caused when i did wire change on the back of my headunit, i had to re solder the cables but i think ive now done the wrong ones, can any one send me a diagram of the two cables i need to change, the jvc headunit is nice and clear which is which on is red and one is yellow, on the car the actual leads dont use the same colour code and from an intelligent comparison i thought i had choosen the two cables to change over, which now i think is wrong.

so basically if some one could send me a diagram or point to the right place for a diagram of the fabia iso block and which two cables i should change?

any help will be we appreciated

Generally it used to be that dealers didn't want to know if you had an after market radio as potentially wiring up would put 12v down the K wire.....which is the comms links for the diagnostic equipment...which had lead to a few diag tools going pop. Not cheap!

This probably why your dealer doesn't want to know.

Sorry can't help about the wiring.....would have suggested an adapter but you've done the wire swap now. :o

yeh, make sure the headunit is not putting 12v down the k wire. We always cut and insulate this cable just to make 101% sure.
