ABS Modulator - Fabia 1.4 16v (2001)

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm am wondering if there is anyone that could advise me on the compatibility of ABS modulators. I have been told by my mechanic that the cause of the illuminated ABS warning light on the instrument cluster is due to the modulator being defective. I did a quick bit of research and realised that the replacement part was nearly £1K and worth more than the car itself. I put a request out on Partfinder.Uk and a number of breakers got back to me with prices varying from £30 - £175 and with varying degrees of warranty.  All asked for the part number of the modulator to compare with the ones that they held. One of the breakers sent me a part number which was almost the same as my original but for the last letter. Please could someone tell me if there's anyway of identifying compatible part numbers?

The original part number is: 6Q0907379H and the one that has been identified by a breaker was 6Q0907379J

Any help will be much appreciated.

it may be worth asking what is the problem first  -haven't done one but due to inactivity the motor can stick ( I assume it's the abs unit)  some times they can be freed off and will be OK  it's under the cylindrical cover otherwise my understanding is that the suffix letter merely denotes a later issue and that these are usually backward compatible  (if you had an "E" fr'instance )  does another unit need coding-you'll have to do a search on that   I occasionally  find some grass and jam on the anchors just to give it some exercise  also nice to know it still works    good luck  :sun:

Have you checked the fuse? Fuse cracking in the battery-box fuse holder is a common failure, often giving a fault code that looks like a pump problem.

Link to a big thread about it in the Fabia mk1 section "Extremely Useful" pinned thread.

doh!!!    forgot to mention that one      the numbers listed for 2001   start with "6QO"----and 698***  or 614****  so that number you have may be a later/different  unit anyway

however having looked up your number on ebay and seing the offerings it occured to me that my part no's were quoted on a 2010/12 ? listing and are updates from 2001 anyway

If in doubt remove item & sent to BBA-reman ltd as they can test & repair them. The abs unit is available in two separate parts which halves the cost, but they are bolted together & people think it is one unit!

Wino has hit the nail right on the head.

I've never seen a pump fail on a fabia, polo or ibiza but I have seen many fuses crack and garages misdiagnose them.

The fault that shoes up is "V64 mechanical pump malfunction" and is caused by a stress fracture of the saddle fuse fitted far right on the battery fuse holder.
