Torque Settings????

Featured Replies

Hi folks

Doing my 312mm brake upgrade (Cheers Steve  ) Friday night (weather permitting) Does anyone have the torque settings for the caliper carrier's etc.

Also anyone (lummox??) know what brake fluid they put in from standard so I can top it up a little before getting me posh vaccum bleed kit on it?

I would consult the handbook for fluid types, but mine was an ex demo and 6 months on my dealer still have not forwarded a handbook over to me

Cheers

This info is from Autodata CD2 and is for the Fabia 1.9SDi - but should also apply to the Fabia vRS:

Brake disc to hub - front - 4Nm

Brake calliper to carrier - front - 28Nm

Road wheels - 120Nm

Brake fluid - DOT4

Whatever happened to the good old two grunts and a groan??

m8, I use torque wrenches now, the last time I used the old technique it was Two grunts, a groan, S N A P, followed by wailing and gnashing of teeth. Plus it was an engine mount bolt from my old Firestorm streetfighter, which then required a second engine out job and muchos cursing, wd40'ing, application of heat and stud removal tools.

I soon kitted the tool box out with a nice range of torque wrenches and use them wherever there is a torque value.
