Acceleration lag

Hello,

I have a Octavia VRS 2.0 diesel on a 2007 reg.

I have had the car since beginning of May 2015, and has been running fine.

On the way home from work on Saturday as i braked hard to stop at a bus stop, I suddenly lost power at low revs, and have to push hard on the accelerator to get any motion.

It just does not have the performance any more!

Any one know why this may have happened? Oh, there are no warning 'lights on' in the dash.

Before I take it in to a garage and get a hefty bill. I would appreciate some direction to help solve the problem.
