Octavia II se steering wheel upgrade

Featured Replies

Good evening all,

Her indoors has just got herself a 2011 Octavia SE and I'm wondering how easy it is to replace the plastic steering wheel with a leather item? I've been looking on the bay and while they are expensive to buy, is it any major work to swap from a plastic non mfsw to a leather mfsw?

Thanks :)

I guess it depends what you mean my major. You'll need the wheel and a new controller and airbag wiring loom. It's then a case of removing the existing bits, swapping for the new and replacing the wheel. You'll then need a bit of coding with VCDS. Not a particularly big job but involves airbag manhandling and the coding.

Thanks for this chaps, I realised I put leather mfsw, but right now she just wants a leather steering wheel and has no interest in buttons! Is this an easy swap?

Yes. It is a 10 min job. ;)

That's good news thank you :)

Don't suppose you can suggest a reputable supplier?

SuperSkoda is another option. Had good service from them. Got my vRS wheel from Skodateile but I see there website is down at the moment.

Thanks for all the help guys - got the steering wheel sorted, now onto the gear knob! Any ideas where to get one of those from? Not having much luck anywhere, and she doesn't want a VRS badged one (which there seem to be plenty of) as it isn't a vrs!

Got my replacement through the local dealer - changed original 2008 knob for newer style one.

The one from the new yeti is a straight swap.

How much did that cost you?
