Jabba here i come!

Featured Replies

Less than 24 hrs and my car will have been re-mapped at Jabba. Been looking forward to it for weeks now and seeing as i was in hosipital earlier in the week this is something that will finish this week off on a high. :)

Getting a generic remap done by the way. Got a two hour drive to get there but if there is anyone in the area that fancied a mini meet then let me know. I should be there between 10 and 12 but could also do a slight detour on the way back if anyone fancies a meet up.

About time too, Rob. I remember you PM'd me asking about my remap months ago ;)

Are you getting Jabba's variable boost controller fitted at the same time?

Thats right, just after i got the car which is nearly a year ago. Finally bit the bullet and decided to do it. I have heard that i should have 206 to 212 bhp and shed loads more torque too even from a generic map. This will be more than good enough for me

Having had mine (the remap) for 10 months now the car feels "normal" again and sometimes even feels slow.

Im sure Jabba have something that will cure that feeling ;);)

Not that you'd know anything about that eh? ;)

Wasn't planning to? How much is it and what difference will it make on a Generic Remap?

None. It needs a custom map I believe.

Think that my right foot will end up being my boost controller ;)

I am not sure i see the point in a variable boost controller anyway? I can't see me not wanting the "full" power of the engine available after a remap. If i wanted to go slow i would just use less right foot :D

The boost controller is jsut not a case of going slower...it has severals uses.

In high ambient temps at the top end power will drop off due boost not being able to be held...turning down the boost will make the car respond better and you won't get as much power drop off. If you worry about warranty you can set to minimum boost which is practically like standard, remove the rotary controller and without chekcing the code, no one will be the wiser......

But as said already can't be used with generic code......make sure you go on a long test run and drive normally....this way you'll pick up anything before you go home.

Enjoy.

Just been on the Jabba site today and found this

http://www.jabbaracing.co.uk/services.asp?serviceid=5

According to this they do a test drive to make sure everything is ok after the remap.

Anything in particular i should look for when on the test drive?

One thing to watch for is part throttle hesitation, though this is usually more of a problem on a custom map. I would imaging the generic map will be pretty bloody good to be honest.

If you want to chesk for it, accelerate using about 30% throttle in 3rd, you'll spot it a mile off.

Another "feature" is that if you're accelerating hard then lift of slightly it feels a little jerky. You'll think its annoying to start with but I think its just a result of the improved throttle response and higher boost.

Drive a few miles in it, DRIVE IT GENTLY as well as fast, Try different throttle settings etc. If there is anything that you dont like it can be tweaked, its a long way to take it back. If it feels OK & smooth & your happy then its OK. I think this comes from some people experienceing slight overboost on the Petrol cars which can be tweaked out

Edited to add Goochie you beat me to it !!!

Cheers Goochie

Hopefully they will spot anything like this anyway when they test it after the remap, but i will check for myself too.

Yes...you need to drive as per normal because...you the only person that know how you drive.

Jabba do, do a test drive but obviously can't drive it like you would...this is why I always suggest everyone take their car for a longish drive and drive normally....I mean you can be sure it's going to drive great when you rag it but I assume you won't be doing that everywhere? ;)
