Hi All,

 

I have been having issues with the car losing power (like applying breaks or turning the engine off) every now and then while driving, not being able to narrow it down. Though I could create the problem by dropping to low revs and throttling hard.

 

Yesterday it was quite bad so i opened the windows and tried to make it happen. I noticed one thing.... before the loss of power the engine was sounding very rattly, maybe 1 cylinder rattly, luke very bad diesel knock maybe. Then the loss of power would happen for 1-2 seconds then it oculd pick back up again with no rattle. Then it would rattle again and bang, no power again.

 

I stopped to scan the engine since it was doing it every for hundred yards or so and not one single error. I cheked the measuring blocks and everythign looked normal. Normal cylinder balancing equating to 0 or there abouts, normal temperature, normal everything. But I still get a click under the dash when it happens. A relay is definatley switching under the dash.

 

Anyone got any ideas?

 

If I was confident a garage would fix it without charging me a fortune I would just put it in.

 

Oh, and another weird thing, if i start the car and let it tick over it goes like ****.

It could, but it did it before the remap, and I had it remappedtwice, once with a stage 0 DPF/EGR delete and again with a stage 1 and DPF/EGR delete. And it doesnt do it all the time. If it was a regular constant thing then I would suspect the map, but I am thinking dodgy injector or sticky cam follower though with a reconditioned engine 5k miles ago I dont think that is the case. But I dont know what the symptoms of a dodgy injector(s), injector seating or cam follower I dont want to start targetting things. These are expensive things to replace and not fix the problem now. I have had a lot of the cheaper bits done.

 

 

Im done with VAGS I really am.They used to be good but now you only have to look at them with the wrong expression on your face and they go wrong!
