vrs Blackline - Bluetooth Question

Featured Replies

I bought a 2012 registered vRS Blackline at the weekend.

Really looking forward to picking it up on Wednesday - having driven a few uninspiring "family saloons" for the last few years it's good to have that feeling of excitement around a car again!

I forgot to ask at dealership re: Bluetooth integration. Specifically interested in streaming music from iphone via bluetooth.

Is this available as standard on Blackline spec or as a Skoda fitted option?

Depends on the stereo. Easiest way to tell if you have bluetooth is press the phone button on stereo if it just mutes the you don't have it. Otherwise you should be able to stream music.

Not exactly true, If its an actual Blackline and not just a VRS with Blackwheels then they all have Bluetooth capable head units (Amundsen Plus) they just need enabling with VCDS.

Yes its standard equipment on the Blackline but turned off by default.

If you want to use hands free in addition to streaming music then you will need to purchase a mic. There is a good guide on here which I used on my Blackline and I fitted mic and enabled the Bluetooth via VCDS myself so it can't be that hard :D

If your local to me you can use my VCDS to enable it for free.

Thanks Scribbler, been holding off replying until I'd picked up the car. Which I did last night.

So now I've got my head around things a bit more I understand what you are saying.

Seems a bit of a p!sstake to disable a fairly standard feature like that in a car that would have been circa £20k when new. Anyway no point in ranting :-)

Unfortunately I'm in the Glasgow area during the week so can't take you up on your kind offer. Will have a look around for someone local who can enable it for me. To be honest just want it for music streaming. Never been a great fan of phoning in the car anyway so no great loss for me there.

Mine was £18k new from the dealers. I understand where your coming from but at the time that was a cracking offer for the extra equipment you were getting over a standard vrs and that really shows in the fact that mines hardly depreciated im getting £12k trade in so its lost barely £6k over 3 years which is awesome if you compare to the industry model. Also when they do a limited run like this at the end of production before moving to the MKiii Its generally because they have lots of Parts kicking about from the options list. It just happened that they had Amundsen+ Head units which are pretty good because they have native DAB the Bluetooth module just happened to be included but I don't think it was ever the intension to have this as a feature. So rather than being disabled I think it just wasn't considered and some bright spark worked out that with some tweaking you could get it working. So think of it as a positive rather than a negative.

Regards the Mic Its so cheap and easy to do I would defo recommend it. I also don't approve of being on the phone in the car its illegal for a reason, but its so convenient being able to answer an urgent incoming call whilst driving both hands on the wheel that im a convert its one of the best mods ive done use it all the time now but only on urgent incoming calls.
