something loose or worn

Featured Replies

Had a most annoying clunkingnoise for a few months now - been to mechanics twice he has checked and cant find anything loose or worn, passed 2 mot's in june (its a taxi) had new wishbones both sides for mot (original parts) constant clunking over uneven road surfaces (pretty much all roads) - sometimes get a slight clunk when stopping just before coming to halt sounds as though front n/s brake pad moves in caliper.Any ideas as to most likely item's worn

Just yesterday a colleague was telling me his Audi had developed a known Audi issue which caused a rattle from the front callipers. He says it's common and doesn't pose a danger. I'm sorry I can't be more specific but perhaps there's something in what you say about your front n/s brake.

Seriously, it could be a worn or missing "anti-rattle" spring or shim in the NSF calliper. These aren't part of a UK MoT, or any taxi roadworthiness test that I know of.

not getting any better i am starting to wonder if it could be a mounting - on starting i can feel the engine flex and maybe either engine mountings or the rear mounting under gearstick could be responsible.
