Skoda Superb II Combi Emissions

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm looking at buying a second hand Skoda Superb II between years 2011-2013. I'm looking at the Combi 2.0 diesel Elegance model (140/170bhp). As there is quite a range even in the Elegance spec I wanted to know is there any website that has a history of the CC emissions so that I can check the various models in that range and see exactly what emissions each one has. Am based in Ireland and the emissions here are fairly draconian:

http://www.environ.ie/en/LocalGovernment/MotorTax/MotorTaxRates/MotorTaxRatesbasedonCO2Emissions/

Just needed to be able to pick out the exact model to ensure no nasty surprises when paying my tax. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks very much. To be honest I'd probably try and import one from the UK even though i'd save very little I'd have a better choice in terms of models. So this website should do the trick. Many thanks for your help.

If it has stop-start you'll pay a about €100 less motor tax - I pay €390 for a 2011 CR170 without stop-start (Which frighteningly is the same as a 2015 Leon Cupra 280bhp petrol with stop-start). Whether you'll ever make that saving back thanks to paying more for a newer car probably depends on whether you do a lot of stop-start driving or not. If you do you might find petrol engines a safer bet thanks to the particle filter on all the diesels of this age needing regular miles on the open road to stay clear. Motor tax, unless your mileage is very low or your engine is very polluting, is a small component of the cost of ownership of a car.

If you're buying in from the UK have a look for companies that will source a car for you, matching your budget and spec, check it over (History finance etc.) and buy it (Including haggling - the company I read about claim that often even with their cut added to the cost, that many of their customers still pay less than their max budget), and put it on the ferry to Ireland. I read about one a while ago but can't remember the name. Well worth a check anyway, as a few trips to see cars will quickly eat into any savings you might make on an import. VRT will mostly eat up this difference though.

Also based on other comments here, UK elegance spec is not quite as high as Irish elegance spec apparently, things like the auto dipping rear view mirror are missing.
