Insurance on my mums car

Featured Replies

My mum is trying to sell her old car and I offered to drive it for a bit as its just sitting gathering dust. She has called her insurers, admiral where they have tried to charge her £90 for a month. Seems crazy! I'm 29 with no accidents or penalties!

Do you not have with your own Cars Insurance Policy 3rd party or full comprehensive to drive another car?

What kind of car is your mother selling, and is likely to take more than a month to sell?

Did she not just enquire about making you a named driver for the rest of her current policy.

Surely you as a named driver would not have come out as an extra £1080 for a full years cover.

Some of that's probably setup costs.

If you do this, the car you're driving has to have its own insurance anyway (basically your mum needs to maintain her policy).

She is maintaining it is she not, why she called her insurer Admiral,

or was £90 a month to change it to only you covered while not being the registered keeper.
