URGENT Help needed - Rear Caliper Boot issue, how to refix!

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Just fixing my wifes rear brakes on here VW Golf Plus (I've got a VRS) & they use almost identical brakes.

However, the rear piston boot has come off the caliper & is loose but undamaged. Is the best way to get the boot back on to remove the piston by pumping the handbrake lever till the piston pops off/out & then put the boot back on with the piston off. I've got a bleed kit so it should be had to re-bleed; but i was wondering if I this it the right way to go about it & if there is any precautions I need to take.

Thanks.

The piston wont come out with just the pedal, the piston also controlls the handbrake so the piston will need winding out with a rewind kit.

I have a wind in tool (so turning the other way makes a wind-out tool?)

But doesnt the piston eventually come out on it own when the handbrake level is pumped enough (by hand?)
