Temprementel problem with 1.4 2013 fabia vrs

Featured Replies

Hi guys just if i could pick your brains on this problem my mate is having with his vrs he had it in sport mode today on the dsg gearbox and he boosted it hard to overtake a slow moving lorry and the eml light started to flash and about a min later it went off but did it again a couple of mile down the road the owner did say it had a slight miss at idle the car has roughly 26k on and also goes in tuesday for an oil consumption test to see if it needs a new engine but before it goes in and if it doesnt do yous guys know what it could be or any of you experianced it before

Likely needing new spark plugs.

Have they been changed, because 1 is likely giving up the ghost.

Do not boot it again until the plugs are out and checked / replaced.

The tip might break off.

(as to booting it in 'S; to overtake, that is another subject, like lots of Revs and not much more go.)

Re Oil Consumption Test / New Engine.

Skoda UK or the Technician that does the test and gets the results & writes the report is now likely to suggest or want

'New Oil Spray Jets Fitted' (Squirters) rather than a New Engine being fitted under Warranty.

I had the same problem a few weeks back coming home from blackpool but I didn't boot it, I was cruising at 70mph then the EML light flashed 6 times. Plugged my VCDS in and misfire on cylinder 2 & 3. I changed my spark plugs to Denso (they are used on the Audi A1) recommended by the chap above and it's not come back since so hopefully it's sorted.

LGM,

What did your spark plugs look like when they came out, any sign of deterioration on 1 or more plugs?

&

Did it look like they had fitted new Spark Plugs when replacing the engine, or just re-used what had been fitted to the old engine?

Would the denso plugs go in the cthe engine ?

To be honest they looked perfectly fine so I didn't take any pictures. They was pretty much brand new so they must of changed them. Touch wood no eml light yet.

Yep I'm running them now no problems. The A1's have the same engines but obviously being Audi use different spark plugs than skoda.

And they will go in no bother and fire correctly lgm

I've certainly noticed one thing, the car starts up a lot quicker than the NGK ones. Literally as soon as the key is turned it fires up.

I've also changed my fuel to tesco momentum 99 instead of Vpower nitro+.

Just a warning.

If you can not call out Skoda Assist,

& the car can not wait until Tomorrow or Wednesday to go to a Skoda Dealer.

Only fit NGK Plugs today.

Not the Denso.

The Skoda Dealers Technician might say.  None OEM NGK Plugs fitted, we are not touching it.

Not changing Plugs, Not doing Oil Consumption Test.

Skoda UK might not approve them doing any checks.  (Pay for it!)

If Skoda Assist / AA come out the Misfires might not have Logged,

but the car has Skoda Assist, They can Plug in, whip the Plugs out, Recover the car to a Skoda Dealership,

arrange a Loaner / Courtesy / Hire car.

Best to,

'Call them out'.

.............

All the best.

Must go.

Cheers rob for starting this post, the car is going in on Tuesday for the consumption test, I can wait till Tuesday if those plugs will hold till then if I don't boost the car. Or would you recommend to change the plugs to then ngk ones today

Do not boost on supercharger and turbo. So just drive easy. If it goes into limp mode it can disable the turbo. So just in D and stick to driving easy till Tuesday

Ah cheers for all of the help on this, and I will do that I know it's hard not to boost these cars but I don't want to break it.
