Featured Replies

As the title suggests, I've broken Photobucket, my image doesn't show and the shared links doesn't show either, I've tried clearing the cache but don't know what else to do?

I use one password, sixteen characters, upper, lower, numbers and other characters.

There's some decent password apps for Android and Firefox ;)

I try and use 1 password.. the non sensible way, no upper or lower cases mixed in :D

I use Bruce Schneier's Password Safe

I have many many passwords.

If nothing else don't use your email password anywhere else since through hat you can often get the rest by requesting password resets.

Don't use a single dictionary word and don't do the usual substitutions i.e. 3 for E etc.

We had a security tester on side at work the other week and he cracked hundreds of passwords in one aftrernoon.

The ones he couldn't get easily were -

Longer than 8 characters

Had a random number in the middle

Had a random capital in the middle

Were made up of random (or pseudo random) numbers

Were made up of more than one unrelated dictionary words.

So he was cracking some half decent stuff like - Abingdon23

Because he had such a good dictionary of place names.

Something like - print89Curry

Worked quite well.

If you want to toughen it up more add a £

£ isn't on most keyboards around the world and most of the amateurs won't think to include it.

I only know this because I went through the list and asked people that weren't on it how the made up their passwords.

I use words, or shall we say names for things, but not in the dictionary. I also string several together & throw in a number. On the critical ones I us upper & lower case & about 12 digit long.
