Reset MIB Columbus

Featured Replies

Does anyone know how to reset, or reboot the newer MIB Columbus? The buttons that are used to do this on the older Columbus are absent and I cannot find an equivalent. I have a problem with DAB. The unit, in general works fine, but is prone to losing DAB completely, the unit does not even acknowledge that it exists, only AM and FM. This usually occurs while doing something else on the unit whilst listening to a DAB station. For example, I get in the car, put a DAB station on, then drive somewhere using the Nav. The DAB station is playing along nicely. However, when I then press the Radio button to change stations, the radio screen usually has no presets visible and is showing 87.5Mhz on FM. If I press the radio band button, only AM and FM are there. This situation only resolves itself after the car is shut off for a significant time. If I turn the car off and on fairly quickly, the radio comes straight back on as if it were in standby and is still in the faulty condition. It presumably powers down completely if left off for longer. For info the technical details of the unit are:

Device Part Number -5E0035020

Hardware - H40

Software - 0111

A long press on the Menu button brings up the service menu and more information is aavailable:

Software Version - 12.34.2_H11.33.75_HIGH-EU

Installed SWTrain Version - MHIG_EU_SK_P0071

On this menu it does have the option to update the Software (presumably it mean firmware), but I do not know of any sources for the MIB Columbus

Any help very gratefully received

I guess nobody knows.....

I seem to recall there's an issue with DAB reception  on these units which can be solved with a dealer applied update.

Reboot unit by pressing power button for 15sec

Thank you Frallan, that did the trick. Still annoying that DAB drops out on occasion but at least I can restart the system now.
