Cant find hidden setup menu on Columbus RNS 510

Featured Replies

Hi All

Just bought my first Skoda, a 2012 Superb Elegance wagon (in Australia).  During the inspection before purchasing, the Columbus started playing up. Skoda Australia replaced it with a new RNS 510 unit, even though it was 1 week out of warranty (phew!)

I've watched several Youtube videos & read guides about how to access the hidden  menu - ie: Hold down the Setup button until you see the Radio setup menu, then keep holding it for the more indepth menu.  Thing is, I only ever see the Radio setup menu with 3 options.  Nothing else seems to work. I've seen a few posts on the web of users with similar issues, but no solution.

I can extract the following info:

Delivery Part Number - 3T0035680B

HW-Version -  H71

SW-Version  - 4120

Active Map coverage -  (Australia + NZ)

Active map supplied  - Sensis

Map Version HDD - 8207

I've got a factory fit reverse camera coming, and believe I need to program the RNS510 to enable it.

How do I access the menu?

If anyone can point me to the best guide for updating firmware & maps, that would be appreciated.  Seems there is firmware specific to Australia, not just maps?

I find the touch input a bit laggy.   Fixed with newer firmware?

You need VCDS (or the dealers) to enable the hidden menu. You'll also need VCDS to code the reverse camera.

The maps I'm not sure about as they're not from my country but 2014 was 8035 so I think you're well up to date. Firmware I would leave as it is unless you have any issues. The touchscreen input won't be affected with any firmware update, it's just the way they are.

Edit: A quick google found this. The maps are the same as yours. http://jku.com.au/2015-map-dvd-genuine-vw-v8-australia-nz-maps-for-rns-510-7l6919859g.html#!prettyPhoto

legend, thanks Rusty !

I've already bought a VAG cable, so I think it should do the trick.

I've already got a OBDII bluetooth dongle, and I'm about to install the OBDeleven Android app, which might do the same job. I'll know tonight I guess.  Thanks again !

Not sure if that cable / software will do what you need. It's for older cars I think. Also not sure about the OBD app either, as I've never used one.
