Strange problem with Arcserve and Exchange 5.5

Last couple of nights our arcserve backup has failed backing up part of the exchange database. The Directory backup works, then the following appears in the activity log.

E8620 Failed to read from database (DBNAME=Directory, EC=servername:backup agent error - (303) "Exchange server error. HrBackupTruncatelogs failed Check backup agent log". The information store is then backed up successfully.

Circular logging is turned on, and I cant see any reason for the problem to occur. Google reveals a number of things that I have checked. Any other ideas?

Backing up the directory with NTBackup is succesfull with no errors.

Managed to fix this now, somehow the logfiles had become corrupt. Stopped service, deleted them all and restarted service. Tested backup and its working now.
