anyone ever removed the alternator on a 2.0tdi 170 bhp looks a horrible job??

Haynes manual on the CR Passat say that you have to put the lock carrier (the whole front of the car, bumper removed ) in the 'Service position' which will give you 10cm approximately of extra working room.
