Well it’s been a year since my mother purchased a ŠKODA Fabia 2 vRS (http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/326968-1st-september-2014-delivery/) so I thought I would give an update how the car is performing.

 

The car has done just over 2500 miles in 12 months.

 

Most the time it’s just town driving with two long journeys from South to North to Wales and back. I had an opportunity to do one of those journeys and it performed brilliantly.

Driving up on a Friday evening listening to Dance music on BBC Radio 1 on DAB (My mother wasn’t too impressed) with hardly any dropouts even in rural Wales. The 1.4 was so well suited to the windy roads with low end torque pulling out of the corners. When keeping up with more powerful cars that pulled away on the straits in the corners the Fabia seemed to carry more speed that the larger cars so easily kept up with them.

 

The only observation I would make is that the car became a little unsettled over bumpy road and felt a bit bouncy.

The total mileage for that trip was 482miles and average 39.78mpg which is really good seeing the types of roads it was on and I was going “around” the speed limit.

So after a year of ownership my Mother thinks the Fabia is still a brilliant little car that is really comfortable. She still thinks that sales man for describing it as “Sporty” is funny. Which I can understand seeing that it doesn’t have a hard ride or expensive to run it’s just a nice normal car that does everything well.

I hope VW bring back the twin-charger at some point as it’s a great concept that worked really well in this car.

 

At least Volvo are carrying the twin-charger mantel for now.
