Octavia vRS vs Audi A4

Featured Replies

Dear all,

I am new so please be gentle with me!

I have owned an Audi 2.4 V6 from new for 15 year and I LOVE it.  The problem is that it is staring to show signs of age and to cost money out of proportion to its value.

I already own a Skoda Fabia and love that too.

So I am looking for a new car and the choice is narrowed down to an new Octavia vRS (petrol), and a new A4 (2016 model, probably 2 litre petrol).

Apart from the price difference, do you have any advice on making the choice.

Progress so far is that I have booked a vRS test drive for later this month and will have an appointment with Audi to look at the specs at about the same time.  Audi is not available to test until the end of this year.

Heart says Audi, head says Skoda.

Many thanks in advance.

Neither a bad choice in my opinion, really down to preference. I have a 2010 petrol VRS and very pleased with it, but it isn't an audi. Really depends how much you value the badge and are prepared to spend! Not sure if any use, sorry!

Until the A4,is available for reviews / road test, a comparison isn't available. It's all speculation and hearsay.

The vRS is a nice car.

I assume the A4 will be slightly better, but much more expensive :)

The PCP on an A4 is about £170 per month higher (and that's with the a4 on 48 months and the skoda 42) and you'll need to pay more at the end to own it.

The new a4 however is pretty well loaded and I only needed to add a few options.

At the end of the day, I went with the Octavia in the end as there was no way to drive the a4 and while it's all very nice, I can't justify paying nearly £8k more to rent the car and then paying for the car itself.

That £8k will buy the skoda outright.

The A4 will be quieter and the a3 saloon I had was a little bit nicer to be in (Mainly noise), but frankly nothing that could justify the cost to me.
