Taking a VCDs Scan

Featured Replies

When I first got vcd's some time ago now, I took a scan with just the ignition switched on and saved it. The idea I believe is to have a comparison with another scan should something go wrong later on with the car.

It appears a pretty basic scan. Do you get much more info with the engine actually running when you do a scan, and is it a better idea to do one of these for future reference in the event of any problems?

What you should have now is the coding for every module in the car including their part number and hardware/software versions. This is a very good reference on it's own, the only extra thing is to save the adaption channels for each module so you know how they started life.

I don't think trying again with the engine running will give you anything more than you have.

What information do you think is missing? You could always post your autoscan so we can confirm it's worked correctly?
