Vrs Turbo Odd Noises

Featured Replies

Just bought a 2003 Fabia VRS with the intention of replacing the dying turbo. I'm not sure what's actually wrong with it but it does make an odd whistling noise. How can I find out which turbo the car has to buy a new one? Thanks!

The standard turbos are KKK units. The whistling is pretty common with these but its best to check all boost pipe connection and he intercooler for wear and boost leaks. If you need a new one it might be worth getting a pd150 turbo or something.

Sounds like a Police siren.....normal

How much whistling is common? I only assume that the turbo is dying because that's what the previous owner told me. I don't have any evidence but apparently the owner before that might have fitted a smaller turbo than normal and as such it has been overworked. How can I tell if the turbo is dying?
