As per title, does this bulb holder pull out or twist ? It`s hard to see it. Thanks

They ‘just’ pull out... but they are a bugger to get to, a pair of long nosed pliers can be helpful, do not be tempted to pull on the wires as it is easy to pull them out of the holder 

Just done this - go straight for the pliers, it is a doddle once you get a grip on the holder.

The bulb I took out had a blue glass envelope - replaced it with a white one - any views on why this is blue ? The light from the two look the same to an untrained eye. At night they will be swamped by the HIDs anyhow !

This is true, but do not assume that a blue tinted bulb will actually produce a white light. I tried the Bosch Xenon Blue bulbs and they are very yellow in output!
