Featured Replies

i have tesco broadband 512k.

recently i have notice the internet is getting much slower and is now working like dial up. this doesnt seem to happen during the day, only at night after 7pm it starts slowing down.

i have tried ad-aware, spybot, avg etc and all are clear

any ideas?

Lots of people using the internet after 7pm?

will try and email them and see what they say, im not happy

What contention ratio you on?

I would bet it's contention and load on your isp's routers...

It's the old adage of all that gliters is not gold...with many of the isp's you get what you pay for, that said it does not suit all to pay almost twice the market rate for the same service on paper.

It may just be an isp issue if they are working on routers etc...basically like the road network, the traffic has to go somewhere, if the isp takes a few roads out for repairs then it's packet hell for the duration as lots of traffic try to squeeze down one route.

Apologies to you if your aware of how to suck eggs...:D Give it a few days / check for maintentance. If neither are happening then saturation is reached.

Check out adslguide.org they might have some answers.

I used to get something similar "back in the day" on AOL dialup...would just gradually get slower over the course of a couple of months, then go back to being relatively quick, only to slow down a while later. Part of expanding services I guess...

Is there any pie that Tesco hasn't got a finger in.Is this Tesco tesco? presume it is.

Just downgraded from 4 meg to 512 on telewest saving

Hopefully the steak'n'onion! :D

Yeah, 'tis the same company...they're just piggyback services off other providers, think it runs on Tiscali's network.

definately a time thing so im guessing its caused by traffic, last nit at 830 was slow.tried this morning it was how it should be, very fast loading normal pages

Probably its some kid on your circuit is downloading masses of videos from the internet.

Either that or your PC has become infected.

^ Nowt wrong with that :D I Pay

We pay about 29.99 a month to F2S for a 2Meg service, we have a fairly low contention ratio so it never slows down.

i have a big cable that goes though the wall so noone but me using the net
