CONVERSION HELP!

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have purchased a 2011 Skoda Octavia VRS, its got 150,000kms on it and gearbox is starting to shudder sometimes slightly on take offs and low speeds.

My mechanic is saying might have to replace the mechatronics or maybe the clutches are worn out in the DSG auto.

I have recently come across a repairable write off with some slight front end damage for a good price. Almost everything is in great condition so most going to probably purchase it for spares and sell what I don't need.

This donor vehicle has 30,000kms on it so I think its a great buy.

Anyways, I want to swap the motor, gearbox maybe diff, brakes, suspension and probably cluster with mine. I work for VW so labour is cheap and not a problem.

I rang Skoda and gave them both VIN numbers to cross reference the parts. Engine, brakes and suspension are same part numbers but gearbox and cluster are different. Mine is a 2011 and donor vehicle is 2012.

Does anyone have knowledge on this or done it before and know that even though part numbers are different the parts still fit, work and electronically talk to each other with no problems?

Im thinking of just swapping everything including computers but my mechanic thinks maybe the immobiliser may not link to the new ECU and VW software wont be able to talk to the Skoda's and get things to pair.

Any help on this would be great thanks!

Send Eddie_NL a pm, he has done a few cluster swaps and knows what is involved.
