Leather or alcantara seats ?

Featured Replies

changing from a beige all leather with grey exterior to black exterior new estate , was thinking of a change to select black interior with alcantara instead of beige leather ? Anyone have any thoughts , does the alcantara look ok after 100-200k , leather in current car still looks good after 230 k . Think in Ireland alcantara is a no cost option on style model.

My alcantara in the SE has worn very well after +100k miles over 4 years.

Been thinking of ordering with Alcantara as well, due to it not getting as hot or cold as leather. Would be with heated seats so shouldn't be a big issue. Just wondering what maintenance is like compared to leather? Cleaning/moisturising leather vs Cleaning/brushing of Alcantara?

I protected my alcantara with GTechniq I1 spray and just hoover as normal. They are still looking good after 100k miles.

My wife has forbidden me from having a car with a black (non-leather) interior. Says it gets bits of white fluff all over it!

What about black bits on light coloured interiors ;) You should invest in some Scotch Brite lint rollers!

Leather is deemed ok... Look, I don't understand it, but she's paying for the upgrade!

BTW, there seems to be some doubt now as to whether one is allowed beige leather in the SE Business. The configurator suggests it, but the brochure pretty much suggests any colour as long as it's black. Though, having said that, there is an image on page 15 of a beige interior. I guess there's a massive E&OE on the images...

That would be a shame, but my daughter says that she would prefer black.

I guess it's one (very small!) way to reduce the cannibalisation between the models.
