Got my furby a couple of weeks ago, remapped last week and now the insurance want to know my engine number as it's been modded.

The dealer hasn't put it in my documentation anywhere, it's not on the sticker in the boot, the V5 hasn't arrived from the DVLA yet (car was new), and the manual just says 'engine number is on engine block'. Very useful, as I can see hardly any of the engine block!

Is this it? And if so how many number/letters is it - there are two number the top one is 10 characters long, and the bottom one is 13 characters.

If you look on your data sticker (one in the boot and another in the service book) there is a 3 letter engine code, the number you are looking for on the block will be either pre-fixed or suffixed by it. Alternatively look at the sticker on the cambelt cover that may well have the engine number on that. Have you tried contacting your dealer to find out if they have it recorded anywhere?

The engine number will be the engine code (ASV for the Fabia vRS) immediately followed by 6 digits.

Its not a vRS, is it a 1.4 TDi or a 1.9 TDi?

Conflicting here, your profile says vRS, yet the engine cover says TDi. Which is it?
