How to deal with hyperflashing

Featured Replies

So, I installed some new smd hazard leds, and as result I got the hyperflashing effect. I googled it and I found two possible solutions. The first is to install resistors to each led. The second is to replace the relay switch with an electronic one. I believe that the second one is also the easiest.

I have no idea what kind of relay I have to buy. Any help?

Anyone?

Are all your hazard lights now LED or are some of them still bulbs?

I think it needs a digital relay.. If the leds don't come with their own controller board then that'll be the problem.

As previously stated, if you still have bulbs on the circuit you may need to make sure you get a compatible relay or change the bulbs for leds too so you have all round leds.

Nice idea too.. I'd consider going led all round like modern day cars. The only problem there is sacrificing my daybreakers.. What a dilemma!.

your easiest solution is to get LED resistors that go inline, i dont think you can get a relay that will with with LED and normal bulbs.

So your options are

1. inline resistors for the LED, requiring you to cut the wires to the LED, solder in the resistor

OR

2. replace every bulb on that circuit for LED's, and then also get a LED specific relay.

Surely the easiest solution is to put the original bulbs back in!

dont be silly! thats not an option :P

Ok, I ordered some resistors and installed them. Everything works like a charm, but the resistors got extremely hot after 2-3 minutes of hazard lights use. I didn't check with a thermometer but imo temperature was higher than 100 Celsius. So I decided to uninstall them. I'm gonna try to change the relay now.

What rating resistors did you get? (Ohms + Watts)

So, anyone knows where is the flash light relay located? It's behind the red hazard triangle?
