bilstein b12 or h and r cup 50mm?

Featured Replies

Aaarrrrgghhhh which one to get? H and r is cheaper and in my eyes looks perfect drop. Bilstein gets rave reviews as being possibly best for handling and comfort combined but near stock height and a bit more money.....Help!

Do you spend more time driving your car or looking at it?

I've got the bilstein kit rides nice and handles well not much of a drop tho with 17's barely noticeable

This pretty much sums it up.

Cars that are very low rarely handle that well.

Yes. It's definately a fair point. The 50mm cup kit only lowers by 35mm so not slammed. I guess I'm wondering if it's worth the extra 50 quid or so for the billys.. anybody tried both sets?

Interested in this too, I'm having the same dilemna.

The only specific comment I can make is that my car has bilstein shocks and standard springs - the ride is considerably better than the standard VRS setup

There is also koni str.t kit (or whatever it's called) which is a lot cheaper, and koni are reasonable quality....

The H&R Cup Kit on our CR VRS only lowered it by about 20mm. Also fitted a Whiteline RARB. Handles much better than standard and still comfy ride.

wouldn't touch Konis again, certainly not if I could afford the Bilsteins. Got the B6 and B8 dampers (both sets matched to eibach lowering springs) on both of my current cars and I think the setups are just superb. Highly recommended :)

Hmmm reading lots of threads the same words keep popping up. bilstein and b12. Lol

the shocks on bilstein b12 kit will be montube shocks so will offer superior performance compared to normal twin tube ones

Very similar kits to be honest but I'd say the H&R Cup kit is definitely a firmer ride.

I have koni str.ts shocks with pi springs down 35mm and think its perfect. Ride is exellent and handles great. Also never broke the bank. 20150126_151952_1.jpg

Just bringing an old thread back to life, lol I'm on the verge of ordering my new suspension setup now. Anybody who has used 45-50mm h and r springs- have you ever scraped the bottom of ur car/sump over speed bumps and the like? We have a lot of those small twin lumps that fit between your track and I don't want a cracked sump :/

Not had a problem yet but always slow a bit for speed bumps.

yeah I constantly scrape the engine cover on the square speed humps( 1 on each side of road, not the ones that go from one side to the other) but never clattered the sump or exhaust. the most annoying thing though is i get metallic chatter from the coils touching on rougher uneven roads
