Not that I care (although I guess I should :-) ) but is my 1.9PS engine likely to have a 'fiddle factor' ECU for emissions regulations like many VW's?

I'm afraid I have no reply but I cannot see that Skoda have made any comment yet. 

Is my May 2011 Octavia 1.6tdi likely to be affected? It has passed two MOT emissions tests since purchase - is this different to what is in the news at present.

US reports are on NO_x emissions from 2.0TDi engines of a certain type (EA189).
