Octavia estate boot

Featured Replies

I've recently acquired a 2010 scout. While pressing and pushing things that look like they do stuff (as you do) I pressed a "silver button" on the boot plastic, near the side window behind the rear seats. It disappeared inside the plastic - I did the same with the other side. er?

What are they for and how do you get them back?

Doesn't appear to serve any purpose.

It's not the seat back release button is it?

Make sure your seat back's are locked in place.

It's the only thing I can think of.

That's not the seat release. Got a picture of where they were?

As above.

Unless this is something fitted by the previous owner for whatever reason (aesthetics, to blank off a hole they cut?), I'm not aware of buttons on both sides of the boot. I thought it might have been the recess for the power socket, but that is only on one side.

If you can't upload a photo, can you be a bit more descriptive:is it located on the plastic running alongside the rear side window, is it cut into the fibre material lining the boot, etcetera.

The seat release is up near the seatbelts...

A lot of Scouts were used as emergency service vehicles with lots of electrical equipment added and then removed before being sold.

The only other part in the boot that could be mistaken for a button is the 12V power socket...

The silver buttons appear to be quite powerful magnets.

I removed the plastic covering and fished out the silver thing, and slotted it back in to its hole, but still non the wiser as to what it is.

It's adjacent to where the rear rear seat belt slides into the housing. Sadly I can't upload the pictures to here.
