Front parking sensors. Fitting.

Featured Replies

Hi. Will be collecting my 2009 octavia this weekend. We will be fitting front and rear eBay parking sensors. Does anyone have a template or measurements for the front bumper fitting locations? Also I know the tears have markings on the inside of the bumper but can this also be done from the outside without having to remove the rear bumper? Maybe some measurements for that also??? Thanks.

I cant help with the fronts but i fitted rear ones to mine, easy job to take the bumper off so id do that rather than take time to  mark up the outside & struggle to get the wiring routed correctly etc & mine had the holes marked out on the inside face so nice easy job.

THanks I read on here that the rear bumper is partially glued on?

How are you planning on powering them?

The factory system comes on when you go into reverse and stays on until you turn off the engine, press the button, or drive over (I think) 10 mph. You can also turn it on by just pressing the button, useful if just driving into a space.

If you power it via the reversing lights, obviously it will go off when you start to drive forward.

Rears via reversing light. Fronts via rear wash wipe piggy back fuse and centre console switch.

Don't you want them to come on at the same time?

I have factory fitted front and rears in mine, and it's very handy when parallel parking into a space that both come on at the same time.

It will be less wiring if rears only come on in reverse and fronts are on a switch.

Fair enough. I know it would bug me having to turn the fronts on.

Does each end give a distinctive beeping sound? If you have front and rears on at the same time, in a tight spot it could be confusing.

What about one of the kits that have both? You could run a single power lead from your switch to the control module, and also wire it into the reverse lights, obviously with a diode, so it will come on with the switch or reverse.

That's a good idea but we may just change one of the beepers for a different sound.

Not heard that before, mine wasnt, rear lights out & then a selection of torx screws etc & off it comes.

Definitely said it was glued on two of the fittings on here somewhere but if not definitely will get it taken off. Hoorah.
